Diabetes Classes

The Health Department’s diabetes program is holding classes for you to learn more about the disorder.

An all day class is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Burlington Fire House, 6050 Fire House Lane, Burlington, Ky. Registration is required. A free lunch and a diabetes toolkit will be provided to those who attend.

A three-session diabetes self-management course will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, May 14, 21 and 28, 2013, at the Mary Ann Mongan Branch of the Kenton County Public Library 502 Scott Blvd., Covington, Ky. The classes will run weekly for three weeks. Registration for this series of classes is required. A free dinner and a diabetes toolkit will be provided at the last class in the series to those who attend all three classes.

Topics will include: what is diabetes, healthy eating, preventing complications and more. The classes will be led by a Registered Nurse/Certified Diabetes Educator and a Registered Dietitian from the Health Department.

The Health Department also offers three monthly support groups to provide information for and assistance to people with diabetes.
